Are You A Highly Sensitive Person?

Waterfall cascading over rocks, surrounded by green moss and trees. The scene is serene, with rippling water in a forest setting.

Many Highly Sensitive People (HSPs) don't realise that there is a recognised name, and a reason, for the experiences and struggles they have. However, with knowledge comes understanding and the ability to make every aspect of your life better.

Are you a Highly Sensitive Person?

 Do you frequently:

  • Experience sensory overload?

  • Become overwhelmed by your and others’ emotions?

  • Find “normal” life exhausting?

  • Take things more personally than other people seem to?

  • Find you need lots of time alone?

  • Have difficulty with conflict and avoid it if possible?

  • Find decision making difficult and tiring?

If you’ve answered "yes" to two or more of these questions, you could be a Highly Sensitive Person. I invite you to fill in this free, downloadable questionnaire created by Elaine Aron, the clinical research psychologist and leading expert on HSPs. It will give you a clearer understanding and also reassure you greatly.

Why am I so sensitive?

Firstly, there's nothing wrong with you. Your brain is actually wired differently. You have stronger activation in the brain regions for visual processing, attention, and sensory discrimination, meaning you sense and experience every detail and process it more deeply. The scientific term for it is Sensory Processing Sensitivity (SPS) and it's not an illness or a disorder. It's a personality trait which about 20%-30% of the population have.

There's more good news... being highly sensitive means you have:

  • Strong empathy

  • Extra creativity and imagination

  • Enhanced insight and intuition

  • Deep loyalty and care

With the right support, you can live your life happily, successfully and confidently.

What support is available?

There is a wealth of information online and books on the subject. I recommend "The Highly Sensitive Person" by Elaine Aron as an excellent starting point. And, of course, there are the Bach flower remedies, perfectly suited for HSPs.

How can the Bach flower remedies help?

I've used Bach flower remedies extensively for my own SPS and with clients who are HSPs. The flower essences are a safe, gentle, natural way to support your specific emotional needs as an HSP. They have no side effects and work at a pace that is right for you.

What will the flower remedies actually do?

The flower remedies balance a specific "negative" emotion or mental state with its "positive" potential. For example, replace overwhelm with capability, self-doubt with self-belief, anxiety with calm, and help balance your energy levels. They don’t change your personality, instead they support you to be your true self so you can flourish.

If you're looking for understanding, compassion, care and support that honours your sensitivity, please book a free Clarity Call with me to find out more.

My consultations and personal remedy mixes are available to everybody regardless of their financial circumstances.
