Relieve Sensory Overload - Flower Remedies For Highly Sensitive People

A clear stream flows through lush greenery in a sunlit forest. Overhanging branches and vibrant green foliage create a serene, natural scene.

As an HSP, your nervous system picks up everything and in great detail which means that your immediate environment has a huge impact on you. Bright lights, loud noises, strong smells and crowded places can easily become overwhelming.

This can lead to headaches, irritability, exhaustion, and isolating yourself. While these are natural responses to overstimulation (for everybody), if you are an HSP it’s likely that you experience them more frequently and for longer periods, and certainly more intensely, than non-HSPs.

There are two flower remedies to relieve sensory overload for highly sensitive people.

For immediate relief

When you are over-aroused and you feel in need of emotional rescuing, take the Rescue Remedy because it soothes and reassures your nervous system by calming panic, agitation, and that “spacey”, not-quite-here-in-the-present feeling.

For daily use

I recommend the Walnut flower remedy. It helps provide protection from outside influences, a bit like having a sphere or bubble around you. Using Walnut alongside your other strategies, e.g. reducing sensory input, scheduling time alone and physically regulating your nervous system, can be immensely helpful.

All of the flower remedies are safe to take long term. They don’t have any side effects, it’s not possible to become addicted to them or to overdose on them.
